Research Abstract |
We sought to determine the extrinsic and intrinsic factors involving the pathogenesis of eosinophilic rhinosinusitis. We found that microbial components including exotoxins in Staphylococcus aureus, fungal antigens, TLR agonists and proteases regulates cytokine networks including IL-5, IL-13, IFN-gamma, IL-17A, IL-18, IL-33, IL-22 and IL-10, and involved in the pathogenesis of eosinophilic rhinosinusitis including nasal polyp formation, eosinophil infiltration into nasal polyps, radiological severity of rhinosinusitis, and lower airway obstruction.
