Research Abstract |
Keloids are a dermal fibrotic disease whose etiology remains unknown. To clarify the molecular mechanism of keloid pathogenesis, we focused on HtrA1, a serine protease-family protein to investigated roles of this protein in keloid pathogenesis. HtrA1 and whose substrate, Fibronectin were over-expressed in the keloid lesions, and fragmentation of Fibronectin was observed in keloid lesions. Knockdown of HtrA1 in keloid-derived fibroblasts lead to reduce cell prolifaration rate. Thus, HtrA1 may promote keloid development through matrix degradation
