Research Abstract |
Streptococcus intermedius adhered to salivary agglutinin. Concentration of salivary agglutinin varied among individuals considerably. Novel fibronectin-binding proteins derived from Granulicatella adiacens and Granulicatella para-adiacens were identified. The adherence was inhibited by serum transferrin in the dose dependent manner of Fe3+ ion. Fusobacterium nucleatum adhered to salivary amylase, and more bacterial cells adhered to dimer-molecule of amylase than to monomer-molecule.
