Research Abstract |
Some programs run faster if given more memories. When running more than one such programs, throughput of the programs can be optimized by allocating the resource appropriately. Our goal was to give a microeconomic framework to improve system's overall performance by introducing methods to define and monitor per-process performance measure (utility) and mechanisms to enable processes to trade resources in some exchange rate (price). We have examined and evaluated implementatiion methodology with multiple programs used in web servers.
