Research Abstract |
This research is intended to measure effects of study abroad on competency development. A questionnaire survey was conduted to international students in Hiroshima University who have studied there for a year or more. Some interesting findings of effects of study abroad are hilighted below. 1) It is perceived that "attitude" and "value" such as "resposibility", "tolerence" and "belief in science and technology" have been more developed than "knowledge" and "skill" which universities are supposed to provide. 2) Independent activities such as report and thesis writing are said to be more contributing to competency development than other activities including lectures and semianrs organized by university. 3)They have answered that daily life also plays an important role in competency development particularly in value formation and change.
