Research Abstract

We have found rise in critical temperature, as much as 15 K, in high-temperature oxide superconductors under X-ray irradiation. The mechanism of the rise is considered to be similar to that of photo-doping. Because penetration depth of ionizing radiation is much larger than visible photons, this technique can be applied to improving the properties of bulk superconductors.
