Research Abstract |
Moistened low temperature treatments accelerated the efficiency of the polyembryonic seed selection. Analysis of origin of polyembryonic seeds with SSR markers proved simple and multiple polyembryony in asparagus. Although three haploid plants were identified among ten pairs (20 individuals) of polyembryonic seeds, no gynogenic diploid plants could be obtained from tetraploid purple asparagus.
