Research Abstract |
We found that Saccharomyces cerevisiae NAM34-4C produced significant amounts of ethanol from D-lactate as compared with L-lactate at pH 3.0, but not at pH 5.5. We also report the improvement of ethanol production from D-lactate by constitutive expression of Jen1p or Dld1p in S. cerevisiae.
