Research Abstract |
Artificial insemination (AI) has been carried out in cattle production, but it is announced that the fertility rate after AI has been decreasing in the latest decade. To understand a fundamental factor on low fertility, the present study aimed to demonstrate sperm movement and mechanism for its movement. As a result, this study showed that sperm chemotaxis may have a role for sperm movement to a site of fertilization with ovulated eggs, suggesting that an ability for sperm chemotaxis should be considered when sperm quality be assessed.
