Research Abstract |
Small particles, such as asbestos and silica, cause inflammatory cellular responses, leading to various types of diseases. In this study, we investigated production mechanism of pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-1β. Using size-fractionated silica particles and size-defined latex beadsas stimulators, it was indicated that bone marrow-derived macrophagesuse distinct cellular pathway of IL-1βproduction in a particle size-dependent manner.
