Research Abstract |
I selected the microorganism which converted (E)-2-methyl-2-butenoic acid (tiglic acid, TGLA) to (S)-2-methylbutyric acid (S-2MBA). This reaction was found to be consisted of three reactions. Therefore, I screened the microorganisms to catalyze these reactions each other. Using selected microorganisms, S-2MBA production was improved. I selected the microorganism which reduced the carboxyl group of C14 fatty acid to the corresponding alcohol, and from the more detailed analysis of this reaction, I was identified an enzyme that converted CoA form of C14 fatty acid to the corresponding aldehyde.
