Research Abstract |
This study is focused on astrological images in 13-15 centuries Italy. I analysed the medieval physiognomic texts, Liber Phisionomiae of Michael Scot(ca.1175-ca. 1232) and Compilatio physiognomiae of Pietro D'Abano (1250-1318). Iconographically most astrological images related on manuscript images of 'new' science from the twelfth century Renaissance. Physiognomy was one of these new sciences from Ancient Greek. It influenced to images which represent as planets, zodiac, and people who was influenced by planets as know as 'planet-children'. The Arabic tradition from the twelfth century Renaissance, clearly remained with some details of these physiognomic texts.
