Research Abstract |
Minna is a highly endangered language spoken in Minna island, which is located between Ishigaki and Miyako islands in Okinawa prefecture. Its endangered status is in more critical situation than most of the other Ryukyuan languages. There are few previous studies on Minna and nearly no studies on the grammatical aspects exist. This study aimed to describe Minna's grammatical systems and to provide language texts. The results include a list of basic vocabularies, the case marking system, and the basic verb inflection system. In addition, a handful amount of spoken discourses are transcribed and made available as language texts.
