Research Abstract |
After the late 1990s, population recovery or "gentrification" has become increasingly common in central Tokyo. Activity diary survey for housewives living in central Tokyo was done to clarify the difference between city center and suburbs. The impact of the Internet on their time budget has also analyzed. As a result, housewives living in central Tokyo devoted less time for housekeeping tasks than housewives living in suburbs of Tokyo. It is also found that the Internet services such as e-shopping reduce physical housekeeping time for working mothers living in central Tokyo.
