Research Abstract |
In this study, I approached two questions from a sociological viewpoint. First, why and how were Imperial souvenir produced and consumed in large quantities in modern Japan? Second, how did mass-produced souvenirs related to the formation of people’s national identities?Through this study, I elucidated two points. First, since Taisho era, various industries have produced various Imperial souvenirs in a disorderly way obeying the capitalistic thought. Second, these souvenirs inspired people’s mentalities not as “nation” but as “consumers”.
