This work clarified a role of TCP transcription factors in the progression of leaf senescence in plants. The control of transcriptional activation of class II ERF transcriptional repressor genes by TCPs suggests a link between these TCPs and ERFs. It also characterized a regulatory cascade involving class II ERFs in the progression leaf senescence.
