Research Abstract |
R protein Pit acts as an intracellular receptors for sensing the blast fungus. In this project, we found that Pit activates small GTPase OsRac1 through a GDP/GTP exchange factor OsSPIKE1. Pit-dependent OsRac1 activation via OsSPIKE1 playsimportant role in Pit-mediated disease resistance. Palmitoylation of Pit plays a critical role in activation of small GTPase OsRac1 on the plasma membrane. In addition, we identified the novel interactors of Pit.
