Research Abstract |
In order to study the role of Gasp (Themis) in T cell development, we made transgenic mice overexpressing Themis in a T cell specific manner. In the thymus Themis overexpression augmented positive selection in a CD4 T cell specific manner, while positive selection of CD8 cells was inhibited. Furthermore, cytokine production was altered in Themis overexpressing peripheral T cells. These data show for the first time a role for Themis in T cell receptor-dependent signaling.
