Research Abstract |
The purpose of this project was to develop a innovative ultra-high-speed photography technique and investigate the fracture phenomena of the resin-tooth interface, especially resin-dentin interface for improving the durability of the adhesive restorations. The fracture phenomena like crack propagation or opening, and flying fragments within the resin-dentin interface could be successfully visualized by this technique. From the results of this study, the crack location of the resin-dentin interface depends on the adhesive systems. Understanding of the fracture mechanism aids in the selection of the adhesive systems for clinical applications and in the development of new adhesives.
