Present findings indicate that orofacial mechanical allodynia and hyperalgesia occur in the pulpitis stage (3 day), and that hyperalgesia occurs at the late period after periapical periodontitis (6 weeks). These results suggest that pulpitis and periapical periodontitis aredifferentially involved in ectopic orofacial allodynia and hyperalgesia.
