Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to develop the appropriate method for clinical skills examination for dental students at the end of undergraduate clinical training. Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is not always the best method to evaluate clinical skills in undergraduate dental education. This research results suggested as follows: (1)There are several unique features in each evaluation method to assess clinical skills of dental students. Dental schools need to consider integrating a variety of assessment tools in order to evaluate all relevant types of knowledge, ability, and skills. (2)The assessment results should be used to provide individualized career support for each student. (3)Dental educators should inform the public of the quality of clinical education for dental students to gain public trust.
