Research Abstract |
The aim of this research was to reveal the characteristics of carpets produced in both north and south India from the seventeenth to the eighteenth century and examined their distribution and consumption in accordance with people's demands in different areas of the world. As a result, it becomes clear that some of the carpets traditionally named "Lahore carpets" and attributed to north India were most likely woven in south India as trade goods. Moreover, the value and significance of these imported carpets varied depending on the social context in which these carpets were accepted.
