Research Abstract |
We studied an anomalous hysteresis behavior in first-order transitions. In contrast to a conventional hysteresis process, the hysteresis trajectory of the anomalous hysteresis does not form a loop structure and the phase transition occurs only in a unidirectional way. We revealed the required conditions for the anomalous hysteresis through complementary studies on ultracold atomic gases and quantum spin systems.
