Outline of Research at the Start

ガンマ線天文学は，NASAが2008年に打ち上げたFermi衛星LAT検出器により飛躍的な進歩を遂げたが，解像度（角度分解能）の不足から天体が密集するとともに拡散ガンマ線の放射が混入する銀河面近傍の観測では未解明の課題が残されている。さらにＸ線による観測ではVelaやCrabなどの高輝度天体で偏光の観測が報告されているが，ガンマ線天文学では未達成となっている。
原子核乾板を用いて，高解像かつ偏光に感度を有するガンマ線望遠鏡を実現し，大面積・長時間の観測により，上記の課題に対して質的に新しいデータを提供する科学観測に着手する。
