Outline of Research at the Start

近年、初期太陽系の内側と外側の安定同位体組成が異なっていたという「同位体二分性」が惑星科学の一大トピックとなっている。本研究の目的は、このような不均質がなぜ生じたのか、隕石の同位体分析と太陽系進化の理論研究双方のアプローチから明らかにすることである。隕石研究では、太陽系最古の物質CAIおよび太陽系平均組成を保持するCIコンドライトの精密同位体分析を行う。理論研究では、原始太陽系円盤の形成から惑星形成まで、同位体不均質がどのように変化したか、その素過程を明らかにし、新たな太陽系進化モデルを構築する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

【隕石研究①】CVコンドライトに含まれるAlに富むコンドリュール(ARC)のCr-Ti同位体分析を行い、ARCはNC領域物質とCAI的物質との混合によって形成されたことが分かった。CC的全岩同位体組成を持つCVコンドライト中にNC的成分が含まれるということは、太陽系内側(NC領域)で作られたARCが、外側(CC領域)に移動したことを意味する。これは、初期太陽系における物質移動に制約を与える非常に重要な結果である。
【隕石研究②】2024年に発見された新隕石OC002のCr同位体分析を行い、この隕石がわずか9個しか存在しないCIコンドライトに属することを明らかにした。また、CYコンドライトY980115のCr同位体分析を行い、この隕石母天体はCI的な組成を持っていたが、天体衝突によって一部の揮発性元素を失ったことを明らかにした。
【理論研究①】原始木星をもつ円盤におけるダストの成長と移動、およびCAIの移動を同時計算した。その結果、ダストの付着力が低い場合に、木星より内側、外側の軌道領域における固体のCr-Ti同位体異常がそれぞれ、NC、CC隕石に見られるCr-Ti同位体異常の傾向を大まかに再現することを明らかにした。
【理論研究②】超新星爆発等に由来する固体微粒子が銀河系内を拡散し太陽系を生んだ分子雲に達する様子を計算し、分子雲内に生じ得る同位体不均質の程度を調べた。超新星爆発等と分子雲の距離、および経過時間に応じて不均質の程度が決まることがわかった。
【理論研究③】小惑星衝突における蒸気雲内での複雑有機物合成シミュレーションを行った。小惑星の組成依存性はあるものの、一般的にCO2よりもCOの生成が卓越し、複雑有機物生成の鍵となるHCNも多く生成することがわかった。アミノ酸は生成されてもすぐに熱分解するが、アミノ酸前駆体は蒸気雲の急速冷却によるクエンチで残ることがわかった。

Reason

隕石研究では、アルミニウムに富むコンドリュールのCr-Ti同位体分析を行い、初期太陽系における物質移動に関する新たな知見を得た。この研究成果は、2024年8月のGoldschmidt国際会議で報告され、非常に大きな反響を得た。また、CIコンドライトの研究では、2024年に発見された新隕石が10番目のCIコンドライトであることをCr同位体分析から示すなど、惑星科学におけるエポックメーキング的な成果を挙げた。理論研究においても、分担者3名がそれぞれの研究を計画通りにすすめ、着実に論文を公表している。2024年度に研究代表者と分担者が国際誌に公表した論文は合計25本にのぼり、その中にはScience advancedやNature astronomyなど、超一流の国際誌も含まれている。研究のペースは当初の計画以上であるといえる。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

【隕石研究】隕石の中に存在する同位体異常をもつ成分を詳細に調べるため、始原的な炭素質コンドライトの連続酸リーチング実験を行い、得られたフラクションのCr, Ti同位体組成を調べる。対象とする隕石はTagish Lake (C2-ung)、Murchison (CM2)、Tarda(C2-ung)、およびYamato 980115 (CI1)である。特に、プレソーラー粒子が濃集する耐酸性残渣について詳しく解析を進める予定である。
【理論研究】
(1)星間雲から分子雲コアにいたる過程はいくつかの段階に分けられるが,各段階で同位体分布がどの程度均質化されるのかを定量的に求めることを目指している。今年度は特に,分子雲の段階に対し定量的な分析を行う。
(2)原始太陽系円盤の赤道面に沈殿するダスト(Crの担体)およびCAI(Tiの担体)を集積して微惑星が形成される過程をモデル化し、微惑星の集積年代に応じてCr, Ti同位体組成がどのように進化するかを理解する。
(3)太陽系円盤における粒子の移流・拡散・ドリフト運動など考慮した理論モデルをさらに進化させ、同位体異常を持つ円盤内物質の分布を解析する。
