Outline of Research at the Start

近年、材料中に遍在する格子欠陥に原子スケールかつトポロジカルな秩序を持った微小な磁性・強誘電性が現れることが発見され、欠陥を用いた新しい機能性ナノデバイスへの応用可能性から注目を集めている。本研究では、大規模かつ精密な第一原理計算手法により、格子欠陥が創り出す未知のトポロジカル磁性・強誘電特性とその発現機構を明らかにする。さらに、外力負荷によるひずみとトポロジカル磁性・強誘電特性との連動特性（マルチフィジックス特性）を評価・解明することで、臨界寸法を超えた超微小スケールの磁性強誘電機能を力学的に制御・設計する基盤の構築を目指す。
