Outline of Research at the Start

過去に研究代表者が味蕾組織において見出したチャネルシナプスという類例のない化学神経伝達機構について、その全身での役割すなわち普遍的重要性を明らかにするとともに、その動作・形成の原理を分子レベルで解明することで本概念を多階層的に拡張深化させて新たな学問領域の創出を目指す。さらに、味覚のみならず多くの生命機能を担いうるチャネルシナプスの制御技術開発により人類の健康と福祉に資する研究開発のシーズも創出する。
