量体化が起こるような強い電子格子結合系における電子相関の影響について、金属絶縁体転移のスピン状態依存性を通じて明らかにする。単純な単一軌道モットハバードモデルでは系の絶縁体化へのスピンの寄与は無視できるが、多軌道系で強い電子格子結合がある場合にスピンの役割は不明であり、低温における磁場効果の実験からそれを明らかにする。V1-xWxO2(0< x < 0.15)における特異な、絶縁体―金属―絶縁体リエントラント転移を具体的な対象として、600テスラの超強磁場領域まで、光学特性、電気抵抗率、磁歪、の各種測定から調べる。
