Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は近世前期以来の藩の政策、旅行者の来訪動態、領内地域社会の動向を分析し、政策と実態の両面から旅が領国内地域や藩全体の存立、さらには領主・領民関係にいかなる影響をもたらしたのかを検証する。国政において、「観光立国」政策が推進されてきた現代情勢に照らすならば、旅の動向と藩の存立の関係性を問うことは、いわば「観光立藩」状況の程度や段階を明らかにすることにつながる。その意味で、本研究は歴史学と観光学・人類学等の異分野研究を架橋する学術的可能性を秘めている。また、得られた成果により、現代における国や自治体の旅行政策の進展と、それによる社会の成長に寄与する提言を発信することができるだろう。
