Outline of Research at the Start	本研究課題では、空気圧アクチュエータの超高精度位置決め技術を確立することを目的とする。空気圧アクチュエータは、防爆性を有し、発熱の心配もなく、コンパクトながら大きな負荷を駆動できる等、産業用途として多くの魅力を有する反面、空気の圧縮性に起因する低剛性特性のため、位置制御時に摩擦力の影響を受けやすく、高精度な位置決めには不向きであった。本提案手法では既に汎用型エアーシリンダの位置決めにおいて0.2ミクロンの繰り返し位置決め精度を実現している。本課題では、これをさらに深化・発展させ、種々の応用分野への横展開をはかり、産業界におけるパラダイムシフトを目指す。
