Outline of Research at the Start

核融合実験装置におけるプラズマ挙動解析やテロ防止に適用可能な、高分解能と高いS/N特性を兼ね備えた、新しい小型軽量な散乱型高速中性子カメラを開発する。
従来の散乱型高速中性子カメラは、主に水素原子と高速中性子の弾性散乱のみを利用していたため、方向分解能が低かった。本研究では、近年開発された塩素含有無機シンチレータ（CLYC(Cs2LiYCl6）等）を吸収体として原子核反応を利用し、かつ導波路型構造を導入して即時波高値判定を行う。中性子エネルギー推定の飛躍的な精度向上・バックグランドγ線の影響除去による大幅なS/N比向上を可能にし、小型軽量・高精度・高方向分解能な高速中性子カメラを実現する。
