Outline of Research at the Start	本研究では、国の指定難病であるヒト特発性肺線維症（IPF）治療薬の開発を目指し、ヒトシアリダーゼNEU1の選択的阻害剤の創出を目的とする。我々は、先行研究において、IPF患者の肺ではNEU1の発現が優位に増加していることを見出しており、NEU1の酵素活性を阻害することはIPFの治療につながると期待できる。これまでに我々は、世界に先駆けてNEU1を選択的に阻害する有望なリード化合物を見出している。しかし、その阻害活性は治療薬として上市できるレベルには未だ達していない。そこで本研究では、NEU1との結合親和性および酵素選択性の更なる向上を目指し、新規阻害剤候補化合物を化学合成により創出する。
