Outline of Research at the Start	コラーゲン研究ではコラーゲン生合成過程の分子細胞レベルでの基本情報が不足しており、コラーゲン異常を起因とする難治疾患の原因解明および根治法開発の障害となっている。申請者は、I 型コラーゲンの可視化に成功して分子細胞レベルの研究を進め、コラーゲン生合成制御に深く係わる、細胞接着面に対する鉛直軸方向の輸送過程（鉛直軸に沿った機能領域）を見出した。本研究は、この機能領域の実体を明らかにし、プロコラーゲンプロセシングを担うオルガネラの特定、および、コラーゲン分泌方向の制御メカニズムと意義の解明を目的とする。本成果はコラーゲン異常を起因とする難治疾患の根治法開発の基礎となる。
