Outline of Research at the Start	不妊症は、妊娠を望む個人や人口減少が進む本邦にとって、克服すべき深刻な疾患である。　本年、不妊治療の保険適用が開始されたが、現在の治療法の成功率は30％程度であり、新規治療法の開発が望まれている。申請者は、体外受精や生殖細胞の保存法を研究しており、精子の休眠状態の維持や精子の活性化に有用な化合物を見出しており、精子の機能制御を標的とした不妊治療法の研究に取り組んでいる。そこで本研究では、精子の休眠状態に着目し、精子休眠機構の解明や休眠精子を活用した新規不妊治療法の開発を目指す。
