Outline of Research at the Start

糖尿病性腎症による腎不全、人工透析患者数は増加の一途を辿り、治療薬開発は喫緊の課題である。糖尿病性腎症の病態に対する特異的な効果をもつ治療薬がないのが現状であり、これまでの治療と異なる治療標的へのアプローチが必要であると考えられる。本研究では、腎特異的な糖タンパクであるウロモジュリンが生理活性物質として尿細管から分泌されること、ウロモジュリンが酸化ストレス抑制作用および抗炎症作用を有することに着目し、糖尿病性腎症の際に生じる尿細管障害に対するウロモジュリンの保護作用の可能性について主に動物および培養細胞を用いて明らかにする。
