Outline of Research at the Start	本研究ではCMVが持つ免疫回避能の詳細を解析し、in vivoでの病原性に与える影響の解明を目指す。CMVは宿主特異性が高く、宿主免疫回避能を持ついくつかの遺伝子は、個々の宿主に合わせて変異してきたと考えられる。これらの知見に本研究の成果を統合し、より安全性の高いワクチンの開発に繋げる。CMVの抗体陽性率は低下傾向にあり、先天性CMV感染症の発症リスクは増加すると考えられる。この問題を根本から解決するためにはCMVワクチンの実用化が必要である。本研究によりCMVの免疫回避能の詳細を明らかにすることは、新しいワクチンや治療法の開発に有用である。
