Outline of Research at the Start

Mycobacterium aviumやMycobacterium abscessusは肺に感染し、結核と同様の病気（肺非結核性抗酸菌症）を引き起こします。日本では子の病気に罹る方が大幅に増加していて問題になっていますが、これらの菌は自然環境にいることから撲滅することは出来ませんし、結核治療の薬もあまり効きません。したがってワクチンの開発が最適解と言えます。
この研究の目的は、M. aviumおよびM. abscessusの感染モデルを使用して、各菌の感染を防ぐ免疫の仕組みを明らかにし、ワクチン開発の基盤となる知見を提供することです。
