Outline of Research at the Start

年をとり聴こえが悪くなる現象を加齢性難聴と言い、これは皆 仕方のないことのように思われる。しかし実は女性よりも男性の方が聴こえが悪くなり易いことが分かっていて、一方寿命も男性の方が短い。男性の方が「老化」が早いのだろうか。もしかしたら男性だけが持つY染色体が関与しているかもしれない。
本研究では「老化細胞」やY染色体に着目し、加齢性難聴の病態を解明し予防・治療法を確立することを目的とする。
