Outline of Research at the Start

HBp17はFGFと結合することでFGFの細胞外分泌を誘導するタンパク質であり、FGFは細胞外へ分泌されることで血管新生の誘導や癌細胞の増殖を促進する。近年、HBp17は口腔扁平上皮癌で高発現していることが明らかとなり、口腔癌の発生や進行の重要因子として注目されている。しかし、HBp17とFGFの結合様式が不明であるため、HBp17をターゲットとした新規口腔癌治療法の開発にはHBp17の立体構造の解明が喫緊の課題となっている。本研究では、HBp17の立体構造を解析し口腔癌の発生や進行のメカニズムを解明することで、扁平上皮癌の進行制御や新規治療法の開発を目指す。
