Outline of Research at the Start

研究代表者は、生体の必要性に応じてビタミンD等の作用により内分泌的に調節される能動カルシウム吸収に加え、腸管腔内の消化物の成分に上皮が応答し、腸が独自に制御することで“自律性”にカルシウムを吸収するしくみがあることを新たに見出した。ただし、内分泌的調節から独立したこの仕組みが、なぜ機能するのか、生体のカルシウム必要量をどの程度賄えるのか、といった本質的な疑問が残されている。次のステップとしては、自律性吸収を導く腸内環境条件を絞り込み、内分泌的吸収調節よりも優勢となるメカニズムを明らかにする必要がある。そこで、自律性吸収を導く条件を検討するとともに、この仕組みの存在意義の明確化を目指す。
