Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は日本におけるDIY (Do It Yourself) の展開をジェンダーの観点から明らかにするものである。具体的には戦前の良妻賢母主義に基づく家庭工作から、戦後の性別役割分業に基づく男性趣味としての日曜大工を経て、現在ジェンダーを問わず広く営まれているDIYへと至る歴史的変遷を、文献調査を通して明らかにする。さらに現在のDIY行為者へのインタビュー調査およびアンケート調査を行ない、現在のDIYが内包している意義や可能性を明らかにする。本研究ではこれらの調査を通して、近代以降の日本で住空間の維持・改造・補修は誰がどのように担ってきたか、その変化と社会的背景を解明する。
