19世紀後半から20世紀前半の中国の金融市場は、外国銀行を通じて、国際金融に従属的に
統合されていたと考えられている。このような主要先行研究の議論に対して、本研究は、上
海の標準的金利やベースマネー供給量が外国為替や在華外国銀行の貨幣発行に与えた影響を
統計的に厳密に検証し、国際資本が既存の現地金融の在り方に順応し、融合する中で中国の
貨幣・金融秩序が作られていた局面を明らかにする。

Morota, Hiroaki. “Zhang Jia’ao’s Bank Management in the Beijing government era: Central Bank Independence Reconsidered from Chinese Historical Perspective”, in Andres Alvarez, Vincent Bignon, Anders Ogren and Masato SHIZUME (eds.), Money Doctors Around the Globe; A Historical Perspectiveを執筆した。この論文で、日中戦争勃発前の中国で最大の銀行である中国銀行を取り上げ、政府系銀行であった中国銀行が民間資本を大量に取り入れて、収奪的政府からの独立性を高める中で、銀行券が普及していったことを実証した。この論文は、銀行券の信頼性と関税を外国人が保管・管理する総税務司制度についても考察し、本科研における中国と海外の金融の相互関係の分析を、より深いものとすることに寄与したと考えている。発行時期は未定であるが、近刊となると思われる。

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
山形大学から拓殖大学に転出し、新たな授業の準備に時間がかかったことが挙げられる。しかし、昨年度で授業資料の作成はおおむね終わったし、拠点を東京に移したことで本科研を進めるための資料へのアクセスも良くなったので、今後の研究の進展については悲観していない。

現在、今年10月下旬に日本で開催される国際学術会議 “Crossings and Connections: East Asia and the World, c1800-1945”において、Hiroaki MOROTA. "The Relationship between Market Interest Rates and International Capital in Shanghai in the First Half of the 20th Century."として報告予定である。この報告の内容は、本科研の前半部にあたるもので、現在鋭意作成中である。この研究は主に上海を対象としているが、この研究と同時に、これまでの天津の研究について補足の調査を実施し、本科研期間中に本を出す準備も進める。
