Outline of Research at the Start

This research aims to study the feasibility of a community rideshare social business model to accommodate female mobility needs in emerging cities to reduce the number of female employees quitting jobs due to unsafe travel issues and building a resilient city transport system to achieve SDGs#5.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Here are the summary of research achievements
1. Developed the Conceptual work for data grab tool development that would collect the travel-related data
2. Complete the task of data grab tool software design, specification requirements, and a portion of software development tasks.
3. Attended the ITS symposium for knowledge acquisition and networking for future research collaboration.
4. Conducted data collection on female mobility belonging to families belonging to the university community in order to understand the mobility behaviors of mothers and how child-chauffeuring duties impact their life design, mobility pattern, and involvement in economic activities such as jobs, business, or pursuing a career.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

The work progress is slightly delayed due to facing the following technical challenges in the R&D phase of the data grab tool development: (1) The continuous function of the app, even when in background mode on a mobile phone, causes heating of the device at very high environmental temperatures; (2) Noise level detection faces barring by device in-built settings, causing interruption in the noise level data collection; and (3) Synchronization with the right sensors through smart watches was facing some challenges; solving it took longer time than estimated time frame.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

The plan for this year is to complete the development of the data grab tool as early as possible and start the travel environmental data collection. Also, I will analyze the family mobility data collected in FY23, and incur activities for making documentation and academic publications.
