Outline of Research at the Start

生体膜には脂質ラフトで代表されるドメイン構造は、脂質の自発的な相分離に起因しており、その消長はシグナル伝達を司る膜タンパク質の局在などに決定的な影響を与える。一方で、脂質ラフトが脂質相分離によって形成される分子機構には不明な点が多い。最近になって、生体膜のドメイン構造は非常に小さく、短寿命であることが分かり、静的な描像では把握できない相状態が生物的に重要であるとの認識が広がっている。本研究では、分光学的実験と計算科学によって求めた脂質アシル鎖の平均配向を指標として用い、脂質膜ドメイン構造を司る相状態を定量的に評価することによって、細胞膜のドメイン構造について共通概念を確立することを目的とする。
