Outline of Research at the Start

土壌還元消毒法は土壌病原体に対して顕著な消毒効果を示す一方、冷涼な地域では土壌の還元化が進行せず、効果が不安定である。また、土壌くん蒸剤と比較して処理費用が高い欠点もある。低温かつ低コストで消毒効果を発揮できれば、土壌還元消毒法は革新的な汎用技術となり得る。本研究では、嫌気性細菌を用いて植物病原菌に対し消毒作用を持つ中鎖脂肪酸を安価に発酵生産し、これを土壌に混和することにより、低温下でかつ低コストに土壌消毒処理が可能か検証する。
