Outline of Research at the Start	本研究では、サウンドスケープの大規模なデータベースを構築し、それをサウンドアーティストやメディアアーティストの作品制作に供する。具体的には京都市中心部（旧平安京）1216箇所の街路音響の全容を網羅する録音を立体音響の技術で実施する。いわば一つの都市を丸ごと音響資料化する試みであり、これほど巨大な規模のサウンドスケープデータベースは世界にも例がない。我が国におけるサウンドスケープ資料の収集は欧米に比べ大変立ち遅れているが、本研究によって一気に世界水準に引き上げると同時に、メディアアートなどの介入により都市環境問題への啓蒙も行う。
