Outline of Research at the Start

地球中心核の密度は高温高圧の純鉄よりも小さい。地球の形成時に鉄よりも軽い元素(軽元素)が中心核に吸収されて密度を下げたのだが、その正体は地球の形成と進化の理解への鍵である。本課題では中心核の軽元素の有力候補である炭素に着目し、その鉄への溶解の状態を調べる。そのためにハイパワーレーザーを使った衝撃圧縮実験とフェムト秒X線吸収分光を組み合わせた分析を行い、地球中心核の合金の状態を解析する。
