Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は，人間もコウモリと同様に，音で周囲環境を把握する能力を獲得できるのか，コウモリのエコーロケーションを模倣したバイオミメティクス型の身体拡張技術の創出を目指す．昨今，様々な身体拡張技術が提案されているが，人間の身体機能の向上や補完を目的とすることから，例えば知覚に関しては五感の強化といった人間中心的な発想に留まっている．そこで本研究は，代表者がコウモリ研究で得た知見を活かし，エコーロケーションを行う装置の開発と適切な訓練により，コウモリのエコーロケーション能力を人が獲得できるか，という挑戦的な課題に挑む．
