Outline of Research at the Start

地球上の多くの地では四季が存在する。冬季の低温は生命体にとって致命的であり、冬を乗り越えることは生物にとって非常に重要な課題である。冬を乗り越えるため、生物は様々な越冬戦略を取ることで生き残りを計る。驚くことに、東シベリアの極寒を生き延びることができるショウジョウバエの種が30を超えて存在することが明らかになっている。本研究では、キイロショウジョウバエを用いた低温耐性の研究基盤の整備を目指す。
