Outline of Research at the Start

建築材や家具材で利用される木材は、密度の高い樹種や物理的・化学的処理を施した木材等、力学的強度に優れた木材が多く利用されている。しかし、これらは資源の枯渇や生産エネルギーコスト高が懸念されるため、持続可能な開発目標に沿った開発と利用が急務である。本研究ではこれまで利用が難しかった低密度木材に着目し、著しく軟化させてスポンジ状態にした木質系スポンジを開発し、新たな用途を探索する。
